“Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA), an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania lives its vision of being a Christ-centred university in teaching, research and community outreach as key areas for maintaining provision of quality education for local and global economy.

TUMA with its experience of more than 70 years of excellence as education provider, continue to strengthen its established programmes to ensure high quality teaching and learning and provide our students with skills and
competence for life and work in a local and global context.

With its facilities able to accommodate more than 7000 students TUMA is underutilized and hence challenges the university to invest in student experience to increase the current number of students of ca. 3400 to reach a
minimum of 5000. This means that TUMA has a strategy already to spend more in academic infrastructures, especially employment of qualified lecturers and to continue equipping and expanding facilities with modern and interactive teaching and learning technologies.

We believe that with the proper use of our university quality assurance policies and tools the success of our university will depend on the enthusiasm of teachers and students to teach and learn to make sure that the graduates from TUMA come out with the best skills and competencies for their local and global employment markets.
